Winning incentive in final at Showgrounds
IPSWICH will host the $12,000 Corporate Dollars Challenge 5th Grade final tomorrow night.
Four heats were conducted last Saturday with the Tony Brett trained Regal Recall (Barcia Bale-Regal Lauryn) clocking the fastest time of 30.43.
Regal Recall, owned by Ipswich enthusiast Len Antonio, began brilliantly from box 3 and cleared out to win by nine and 3/4 lengths, defeating Reactor for John McCarthy.
First and second from each heat qualify for the final.
Tony Brett also won a heat with Mahoney (30.44) starting from box one. It railed through after the start and gapped its rivals to score by a widening 15 lengths, beating Oxley One for Glenn Smith.
Brandi Alexander, for trainer Tom Tzouvelis starting from box seven, was able to cross easily at box rise to lead.
Brandi Alexander scored a strong heat win in 30.76, holding off fast-finshing Hara's Dazza (Tony Brett) running on from fourth early to give Tony Brett three runners into this week's final.
Brandi Alexander was runner-up to Crazy Bella in the Ipswich Futurity back in September.
Exponential, for Glenn Smith, was a heat winner in 30.80 giving Glenn two into the final.
After only a fair start, Exponential railed through at the first turn and came away to score by four lengths, with Izy Magic, for Amber Boody, running second to qualify.
As part of the Corporate Dollars series 8 club, corporate sponsors have drawn a greyhound for the final with the winning sponsor claiming naming rights for their business to the Ipswich club winning post for the next 12 months.
The box draw for the final (and corporate sponsor): 1 Izy Magic (Adventure Tourism Australia); 2 Exponential (Trembath Tyre Repairs); 3 Regal Recall (Greyhound Gear); 4 Brandi Alexander (Beenleigh Legal); 5 Oxley One (Just Greyhound Photos); 6 Hara's Dazzle (G J Walsh and Co); 7 Mahoney (Greg Sternberg Vet Surgeon); 8 Reactor (White Rose Boarding Kennels).
