OPINION: Who will be the new deputy?
THE first battle has been fought and the vanquished have quietly left the building.
Now it's time for the next big battle on the council floor surrounding who will be Pisasale's deputy.
It's understood that Paul Tully, David Morrison, Cheryl Bromage and Andrew Antoniolli are all interested in the position which also comes with a substantial pay rise.
Let's assess each candidate and rate their chances.
There is little doubt veteran Paul Tully could handle the role with ease and his steadying hand would be good to keep our energiser bunny mayor in check.
The well liked Springfield councillor, David Morrison, would also be an outstanding candidate for the position and it would set him up to be the future mayor. Both Bromage and Antoniolli are keen to rise through the ranks to wear the mayoral chains and they would love to have deputy mayor in front of their names.
It certainly sets its up for an intriguing vote in the council chambers and I am sure the lobbying has already begun.
The mayor is remaining tight-lipped on the looming battle, but my money is on Morrison.
