Which milk should you buy to help our farmers?
PEOPLE who want to support Gympie region dairy farmers have some wide choices.
Just leave out the cut price supermarket brands, says Sexton farmer Andrew Burnett.
"Any branded non-discount milk generally helps local dairy farmers stay in business," he said.
"Cooloola Milk, Pauls and Dairy Farmers products with those brands.
Obviously Cooloola Milk comes from local farmers, two or three of them.
But we have 38 dairy farms left in the Gympie region and Pauls or Dairy Farmers branded milk helps the others.
There is a good chance Pauls or Dairy Farmers branded milk will come from local farms.
"They know the keeping qualities of milk and so they tend to favour South East Queensland milk in the milk they sell in South East Queensland," he said.
Milk to buy that support Gympie region farmers:
1. Cooloola milk products
2. Pauls Milk products
3. Dairy Farmers products
