Balancing act for swimming coach Ramsay
WESTERN Aquatics head coach Heath Ramsay said his main role at the state titles would be achieving the balance between encouraging newcomers and developing the more experienced swimmers.
"It's just that next step up in standard and class," Ramsay said.
"It's harder racing but everyone has the same goal to go there and do PBs (personal bests) and whatever comes with that is a bonus."
Former international swimmer Ramsay is confident his young team will enjoy the competitive meet at Chandler.
"It's just getting them in the right frame of mind for racing," he said.
"At a normal carnival, you go and do six or eight races a day; whereas at states it's a bit more spread out so you're normally turning up and only doing one race each day."
