Two men knocked unconscious in separate incidents

POLICE have arrested one man and are on the hunt for another following two vicious assaults at busy Ipswich shopping centres today.

A man aged 30 was knocked unconscious outside the food court at Riverlink Shopping Centre about midday.

Witnesses told police the man staggered into the food court area, collapsing on the ground near a doughnut shop.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to Ipswich Hospital for further observation.

The suspect was seen walking across the Bradfield Bridge towards the CBD.

He was described as Caucasian, wearing sneakers and a dark top, and carrying some grocery bags.

He was in the company of a female and two young children.

In the second incident, police say a man was punched and kicked in the head outside the Woolworths supermarket at Redbank Plains shopping village.

The male victim was knocked unconscious in the assault, which was reported to police about 1.15pm.

Witnesses pointed out the suspect when police arrived, and a man has been taken into custody.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman says a man aged in his 20s has been taken to Ipswich Hospital with facial injuries.

He is in a stable condition.
