Past catches up with man speeding to get ice cream

SPEEDING to pick up ice-cream, while unlicensed, has led to an existing prison term hanging over Chris Norman Howell being extended.

Howell, 27, was seen speeding by police after 10pm on June 9. He was pulled over and checks revealed his licence was suspended by SPER for not paying fines.

He told police he was picking up ice-cream for his pregnant girlfriend. He pleaded guilty at the Ipswich Magistrates Court to driving while SPER suspended.

The court heard Howell was on a six-month suspended prison sentence for drug offences.

He was disqualified from holding a driver's licence for one month while the suspended sentence will be hanging over his head for an extra month.
