Toowoomba Hospice car stolen by opportunistic thief
AN OPPORTUNISTIC thief who stole a car belonging to the Toowoomba Hospice remains on the run from police.
The white Mazda 3 hatchback had been left delivering water to the Harristown facility and left parked for a short time on Monday morning.
The driver had left the keys in the car while unloading a delivery of water at the O'Quinn Street premises when, sometime between 10.30am and 11.20am, a man walked by.
Police investigations suggest the man opened the unlocked door, started the car and drove it away, turning left out of the driveway.
The car has 'Toowoomba Hospice' emblazoned on the side and rear in maroon writing, with Queensland registration plates 415WHU.
The same vehicle was later linked to a fuel drive-off offence at Grantham where it was caught on CCTV.
Police today told The Chronicle the vehicle remained outstanding, and have issued an appeal for information.
The man was seen wearing distinctive white sunglasses and a bandana.
Anyone with information is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
