Teenager stable after being reportedly punched at Gympie school

UPDATE (Tuesday 7.30am): 

A TEENAGER who was flown to Lady Cilento Hospital yesterday in a serious condition after being allegedly punched by a high school boy is in a stable condition and is expected to be moved out of intensive care to a ward today.

The boy was first taken to Gympie Hospital by ambulance at 12.40pm with an eye injury and was later airlifted to Brisbane with inter-cranial bleeding. 

The incident had not been reported to Gympie police when The Gympie Times made inquiries this morning. 


A TEENAGER was airlifted  to Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane after he was reportedly punched at Gympie State High School on Tuesday afternoon.

The boy presented at Gympie Hospital this afternoon, but had to be flown to Brisbane to treatment. 

A spokesman for the hospital said he understood the boy's injuries were serious, but staff would assess the boy's injuries when he arrived at the hospital. 

Gympie State High School said it could not comment until it had liaised with the Queensland Department of Education.
