Springfield opens new school
EDUCATION Minster Cameron Dick officially opened the $28.43 million stage one of the new Springfield Central State High School at a ceremony yesterday.
Mr Dick said it was a landmark occasion for the entire community.
“Springfield is a community that is coming on in leaps and bounds and Springfield Central State High is one of two new state schools that have opened in the area this year,” Mr Dick said.
Member for Bundamba Jo-Ann Miller said it was a happy day for parents in Springfield who had wanted a high school there.
“I'm absolutely delighted, and so are the students, staff, parents and school community,” she said.
The new high school will have a long-term enrolment capacity of up to 1800, but the first intake includes 164 Year 8 and 9 students.
