Sensational effort from Ipswich women
THE Ipswich City Bulls fought tenaciously through fatigue to hold on for a 2-2 draw in their latest Brisbane Women's Premier League encounter.
Head coach Ian Carson was proud of his team in only their second match of the new football season due to washouts and weather disruptions.
Opponents Annerley are tipped to win the league.
"They were sensational,'' Carson said of his players after the Saturday night match at Elder Oval.
"It was a great effort.''
Carson was most impressed with how the players stuck to the task when they were tired late in the game.
"We were under a lot of pressure (in the second half) and we fatigued a fair bit because we haven't been able to train as much as I'd like to,'' he said. "So we battled really hard.''
Right winger Nikki Cox scored both goals for the Bulls, the first to put her team 1-0 up and her second after the break to push the Bulls ahead 2-1.
The home team scored the equaliser late to deny the Bulls maximum points.
