Tributes flow for teacher killed in motorcycle crash

A MARTIAL arts teacher who was killed in a fatal traffic crash this week has been remembered as a wonderful teacher and role model to his students.

Brett Hayden Ritchie, from Brisbane, was riding his motorbike along Gehrke Road in Regency Downs when it was struck by a utility vehicle turning into Lorikeet Road.

His pillion passenger, a woman in her 30s, was taken to Ipswich hospital by paramedics.

Tributes poured in for Ritchie, a level two jujitsu instructor, on the Martial Arts Queensland Facebook page, with many parents sharing how much their children loved lessons with the man.

A friend of Ritchie's, Cara Bidmead, posted to Facebook sharing plenty of memories about the skilled martial arts instructor.

"So many fun memories spent with this guy both at work and out of work... and bad ones too ... that we survived," she wrote.

"So many kids will miss him teaching them Mai Tai.

"RIP Brett Ritchie, you will be loved and missed by so many."

The driver of the ute, a 17-year-old girl, and her passenger, a 17-year-old boy, were not physically injured in the accident.

Laidley police acting officer in charge, acting senior sergeant Jo Goodman said the investigations were continuing into the fatal accident.
