Research in the name of love

IF YOU are a young person looking for love, then Stephen Whyte is looking for you - but only in the name of research.

Mr Whyte is a behavioural economist from QUT and he wants single people from regional areas to help him with a social experiment on how people find partners.

"I'm interested in how 'all' Queenslanders search for a partner.

"The internet has provided options for dating and socializing that now transcend urban/rural boundaries, and I think it's important that the study reflects that in the participants."

Mr Whyte said his research was a matching experiment that looks at how people search for partners. "Behavioural Economics is interested in the psychological and emotional factors that come into play when we make decisions," he said.

Mr Whyte said the experiment would be happening on September 13 and volunteers needed to be single, live in Queensland, 18 and over, and enrolled in a tertiary course (TAFE, university, and pre-vocational Courses).

"We are hoping for more than 2000 participants state-wide," he said.

"We have a YouTube clip that explains how to participate and what to do on the day of the experiment."
