Rare life pass provides an ideal Christmas gift

IT is December all of a sudden - how did that happen?

This year has flown by so quickly. I can't quite believe that here we are in summer and counting down to Christmas yet again.

I tell you what, if my family is feeling generous, I know what they can get me this year.

Willowbank Raceway has some rare life passes on offer at the moment in celebration of their 30th anniversary, which allow the holder to attend all Willowbank Raceway events for life for $5000 (plus GST).

The last time they offered these passes was not long after they opened.

I am told that after this release, it could be another 30 years before they are on offer again.

This is really a great opportunity for any motorsport nuts like me.

Speaking of Willowbank Raceway, I will be heading out there tonight and tomorrow for back to back Test n Tune action.

Tonight especially should be great with a special Diesel Assault Test n Tune.

I really love the themed nights they hold as it adds a bit of something extra to the nights.

Watching the diesel machines battle it out is always entertaining. The last time this was held it proved pretty popular and I have seen lots of people calling for another one on Facebook, so I reckon this one will be a big one.

As always, there is plenty going on around the place this weekend.

While the Diesel Assault kicks off at the drag strip, the Friday Night Drifts will be tearing it up next door at Queensland Raceway, before QR hosts the latest Ipswich Open Sprint event tomorrow and another QR Moto Ride Day on Sunday.

Last week's two-wheeled festivities were great fun at the circuit, so I will be sure to head over for my motorcycle fix again this weekend.

I was a busy bee last weekend, checking out action at not just the drag strip and the circuit but also at the Ipswich Kart Club. They held the final round of their IKC Club Championship, and it was full of action.

I have always been fascinated by go-karts.

They are so close to the ground, yet so quick and nimble and just thrilling to watch when there is a great battle going on.

Congratulations to all the champions after a hard-fought nine round championship: Jack Westbury (Cadets 9), Thomas Cooper (Cadet 12), Jac Preston (Junior National Light), Reece Carkeet (Junior National Heavy), Ryan Jordan (Junior Max), Daniel Meek (TaG Restricted Light), Stephen Wilkinson (TaG Restricted Heavy), Nicholas Dalton (TaG 125 Light), Clem O'Mara (TaG 125 Heavy), Paul Nunn (Restricted 125 Masters), Benjamin Jenkinson (QLD Sportsman Super Heavy), James Wilkins (DD2) and Bradley Dawson (DD2 Masters).
