Punishment for crazy acts around the world

THE sporting world has gone mad.

Three cases to support this have come to light recently proving that you can always expect something strange is happening in sport all around the world.

The first one involves a rugby union referee who forgot to take a coin out to the middle for the coin toss. His punishment was a three-week suspension.

The referee got the captains to play the good old rock, paper, scissors game to determine who would kick off.

The second incident involves Miami Heat guard Josh Richardson who threw his sneaker into the stands. His punishment was injection from the game and a hefty $25,000 fine.

The last incident occurred in a rugby league game in Serbia. Towards the end of the grand final a brawl erupted after a try between the two teams.

When tempers were cooled and the opposing team was about to kick off, a player from the Partizan team pulled his shorts down and mooned the Red Star Belgrade team.

His punishment was 10 in the sin bin. That's surely a first for this indiscretion.

RIP John

THE Ipswich Rugby League was saddened with the recent death of champion player John White.

John will be remembered as one of the great players the city has produced.

While in his late teens he would represent both Ipswich in the Bulimba Cup and Queensland against the Poms.

John was a West End Bulldog, a club that he kept close in his heart.

He was a fierce competitor on the field but a true gentlemen off it.

His furniture business Big Whites was an icon in Ipswich with nearly every house in the town at the time having some furniture from his shop.

John will be sadly missed by all those that came in contact with him.

Rest In Peace Whitey.

Quick thoughts

HERO of the week: Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker is in scintillating form with 103 points in the space of three days.

A 60 point game was followed up with a 43 pointer. This man can play.

Villain of the week: I am not a big fan of players leaving to go to other sports while they are still contracted. Valentine Holmes is the latest to break contract to jet out.

Some have called for lifetime bans. While I feel this is over the top, a punishment should be put in place.

Did you know? Shahid Afridi holds the record for the longest six hit in international cricket. It was a staggering 158 metres.

Bomber's best: I got a little ahead of myself with my tips in the A-League last week. No fixtures where played due to Australian games. I will carry those tips over to this week, so get on the Brisbane Roar to win their first game for the year.

Radio sport: Don't forget Ipswich's only online Radio Sports program can be heard on West Bremer Radio on Saturday morning from 9am.

Spend an hour with me as I talk cricket, softball, baseball and vigoro.

I also get out for a weekly interview with a sporting figure from the town. Sports news is always full with birthdays, signings, results, rep selections plus a whole lot more.

I also call on any sport that needs something put out there to contact me on
