Popular events keep Willowbank humming

A FULL capacity grid of Race your Mates competition was involved in last weekend's Club FX Motorcycle Championships at Queensland Raceway.

It was great to see so many new racers on track.

You can see why Race your Mates is such a great thing for beginners when all the riders lined up in the practice starts and the clutches came off and the wheels jumped in the air.

By the end of the practice starts, all seemed to have it mastered and they were on their way to becoming a full blown motorcycle racer.

In the Superbikes, Jason Eacott took out the win on his Kawasaki. Dylan Mavin won the 600's on his Honda.

After the bikes had finished, Roll Racing kicked off at Queensland Raceway.

Roll Racing keeps growing in popularity.

It is becoming more than just a race night but a big car show. The DJ adds a little bit of atmosphere to make it a really enjoyable night.

At Willowbank Raceway, the Queensland Autospectaular was well worth taking the kids to.

Some classic machinery was on display, including the Ipswich Muscle and Classic Car club.

The kids loved the rocker cover racing.

The day was topped off with trade stands. If you didn't have a car on display and you were out for the look, either way its an event to put in your diary next year.

This weekend is the Ipswich Festival of Cars at Queensland Raceway. This is one of my favourite weekends of racing.

It features some old favourite categories like Geminis, HQ Holdens, Group N and the Queensland Touring Car championship.

The Willowbank 300 is now in its third year.

The event is a 300km Endurance race for a variety of car types. One of the cars I love is the Nathan Jess/Chad Cotton Future Busa.

It won last year's race and is powered by a Suzuki motorcycle engine and is seriously fast. Sherrin BMW's will be hard to beat.

The race has a number of interstaters coming to take on the locals. Adam Burgess, from Sydney, will be in a Ginetta. He will be hard to beat after winning the Wakefield 300 early this year.

Livestreaming is set to be ramped up this year at Queensland Raceway.

On Saturday at Willowbank Raceway is the street series. The Street series has a number of Ipswich locals competing and I always like to get a long and cheer on the locals.

The Powderpuff series is being fought out this year with 15 women already taking part.

Street Sedan are always hotly contested.

In the Bikes, Raceview "postie'' Tammy Goldthorpe leads the way.
