Plenty of big-hitting weekend action

HERE'S a look at where our regional sporting teams are playing this weekend.

CRICKET: All the interest on Sunday will be on the visit of Brisbane Heat Big Bash League team taking on the Bulls Masters team at Limestone Park. The fan day starts at noon with an exhibition match from 1pm.

In local cricket on Saturday, the focus switches to one-day cricket. Brothers host Central Districts at Amberley, with Swifts taking on Northsiders at the same Ivor Marsden venue and Eastern Taipans playing Laidley at Bruce Raleigh Oval.

The Ipswich Logan Hornets have a weekend of away T20 matches against Wynnum Manly and South Brisbane on Saturday and Gold Coast and Redlands on Sunday.

MOTORSPORT: Saturday's is Test 'n' Tune day at Willowbank Raceway with half-price spectator entry. The Ipswich Open sprints are on at Queensland Raceway. Sunday's main event is a thank you day at Queensland Raceway.

SOFTBALL: The final round of softball matches before the Christmas break are being played from 8am on Saturday at the Chubb Street grounds.

VIGORO: The final round of Ipswich junior and senior competition fixtures before the Christmas break are being played at the East Ipswich grounds (Joyce Street) on Saturday morning and in the afternoon.

BASEBALL: The Ipswich Musketeers have a Brisbane Major League doubleheader against Surfers Paradise at the Gold Coast on Sunday, from 1pm.

GREYHOUND RACING: The weekly Saturday night meeting is at the Ipswich Showgrounds.
