Council's "deep regret" that it had to vote for power station

THE Lockyer Valley Regional Council will make no further appeal against a proposed power station north of Gatton.

Despite the council's ongoing opposition to the proposed station at Adare it voted against continuing action at a special meeting on Wednesday.

Mayor Steve Jones said it was unfortunate the council had to make this decision but they were left with no other option.

"From day one we have been firmly against this development and nothing has changed. We still do not want this power station in the Lockyer Valley but with the legal advice we received we could only make this decision," he said.

"It is with deep regret that we voted in favour of this recommendation as all of the councillors were opposed to the development but we must accept the umpire's decision and move on.

"The Lockyer Valley is a region filled with beauty which must be protected and we will always look out for the best interests of the residents."
