No excuse for Ipswich women not to check for breast cancer

WOMEN in Ipswich now have access to two options for free breast cancer screening.

In addition to having their mammogram performed at the Ipswich Service at 21 Bell St, local women can also receive a free breast screen at the mobile van located at Riverlink from January 19 until February 5.

Clinical director of BreastScreen Queensland's Ipswich Service, doctor Margaret Lewis said the additional mobile service at Riverlink offered a convenient choice for busy women.

"The Ipswich service hopes to encourage new women to attend as well as reminding women to continue having regular screening mammograms after their first breastscreen," Dr Lewis said.

"Early detection has been proven to save lives.

"The radiographers working at BreastScreen Queensland are highly experienced in digital mammography and women can expect a one-on-one appointment with a female health care professional."

Women aged 50-74 are particularly encouraged to attend, however the service is also available for women aged 40-49 and women over 74.
