MP: Make your voice heard on domestic violence

QUEENSLANDERS are being asked to have their say on whether we should have a public register for domestic and family violence offenders in our state.

The Queensland Law Reform Commission has released a consultation paper on the issue, and I urge all Queenslanders to have their say on this important topic.

This scheme would allow a person to find out whether or not their partner has a history of domestic violence.

I know there are many different views on whether such a scheme should be introduced, which is why, earlier this year the Palaszczuk Government asked the QLRC to investigate it.

One of my top priorities is tackling domestic and family violence and we are prepared to look at all options which might keep Queenslanders safe.

Public submissions close on February 3, 2017.
