MOVIE REVIEW: Underworld - Blood Wars
UNDERWORLD is like those cat videos from the internet that break TV ratings. It's unstoppable, a guilty pleasure.
Underworld : Blood Wars is the latest instalment in this never ending war between werewolves and vampires.
This film follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her.
With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war
So, after so many installments, does the saga still live? Like a vampire, it will not die unless you bring out into the sun, in the meantime, it stays classy, sexy, and pretty much ready to bite.
This is probably the most blood-soaked film I have seen for a while, not Hacksaw Ridge-style gory, but sleek vampire-gory which is very different as those two films are aimed at very different audiences.
It is just me or the vampires look, dress and sound like posh English Londoners and the Lycans resemble rugged, good looking Irishmen?

Underworld is quite similar to hit TV series Game of Thrones. Give the Gothic theme and take the medieval fair costume designer, both franchises offer blood, politics, war, family betrayal and beautiful debauchery by the truckloads.
This franchise will stay alive for a thousand years, unless someone opens up a window.
