DAVID Roberts has been collecting stamps since he was seven-years-old.

The avid collector, now 70, has more than one million stamps in his possession and aims to expand this number at the upcoming Ipswich Stamp Fair.

"The fair is getting bigger all the time," he said.

"We will have visiting clubs with circuit books, lucky door prizes, bargain table, raffles, auction sales and dealers.

"Stamp collecting is a great hobby. You build friendships and learn the history of what you collect.

"There's always something new. I've been collecting for years and I'm still catching up and chasing stuff."

Mr Roberts said stamps with flaws were the most valuable and encouraged those with an interest in collecting to contact Ipswich Stamp Club.

"We always welcome new members," he said.

"For people who are house bound we can take books to them if they get in touch."

Ipswich Stamp Fair will be held on Sunday, November 1 from 9am-4pm at Ipswich Showgrounds.

Admission is free.
