Markets bring the mall alive

THE MALL in Ipswich came alive on Wednesday night with Santa's Lantern Markets.

Face painting and jumping castle kicked the evening off.

The wandering entertainers such as stilt walkers and balloon creators added to the atmosphere while the Young Orpheus Singers and the Alchemy Street Choir provided quality musical input.

Ipswich Events Corporation's Sylvia Norton said a highlight was "a magical snowman that is absolutely divine."

The Christmas in Wonderland Children's Show was a huge hit and then Santa arrived to give all the kids a gift.

A Santa's Supper gave the first 200 children to arrive a free sausage sizzle, a bun and a drink.

Ms Norton said the markets were a huge success.

"We did it back in 2009 but unfortunately we had to cancel it because it poured down. This year it was all sunshine."
