Local plumbers take top award

IPSWICH business Gravick Plumbing and Gas was recognised at this year's Master Plumbers Association of Queensland (MPAQ) industry awards.

Housing and Public Works Minister Mick de Brenni congratulated company head Grant Vickers on winning the CBUS Domestic and Residential Technical Award.

"The talented team at Gravick Plumbing and Gas have shown how small family businesses are able to deliver top-quality work on par with some of the biggest companies," he said.

"They've been recognised for their work on two-storey building in Springfield Lakes that involved sophisticated and innovative plumbing to service the multiple units.

"It's great to see family-run businesses in Ipswich receive such high recognition, and I'm sure we'll be hearing more about their work in the future."

Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard added her congratulations.

"It's great to see smaller companies like Gravick Plumbing and Gas receiving recognition for the hard work they do every day," Ms Howard said.

"Their flexibility and innovation is helping to drive growth in Ipswich, providing safe and reliable water, sewage and gas systems for almost 200,000 people. It's small businesses like that around our region that are the powerhouse of our economy, providing growth, services and employment opportunities for local youth."
