Knights, Bulls still in playoff positions
TEAMS from the Ipswich Knights and Ipswich City Bulls had mixed weekend results preparing for, or starting, their football finals campaigns.
The Knights' under-20 Football Queensland Premier League side held onto fourth spot entering their final series despite a 6-3 loss to Rochedale at Bundamba on Saturday.
Knights' goal scorers were Rhys Phipps and Lachlan Ellis.
That match was played before the 12th placed Knights top men's side completed their 2018 Premier League season with a 1-1 draw against Rochedale on Saturday night.
Giulana Marconato scored his third goal of the season for the Knights.
The Knights' under-20 team will play either Sunshine Coast or Rochedale in their first final this weekend, depending on a midweek catch-up match.
The Knights' under 18s had a positive season, finishing fifth.
The Bundamba club's experienced City League 6 (Gold) side advanced directly to the grand final after beating Annerley 6-1 on Saturday night.
The Knights "Crocs'' were minor premiers.
Across town at Brassall, the Ipswich City Bulls Capital League 1 Reserve Grade side can refocus for the finals after a 4-0 loss to Toowong over the weekend.
The Bulls Reserve graders finished third after completing their regular season.
Ipswich City's CL1 combination ended their season with a 4-1 loss to Toowong. They finished with 10 wins and four draws, being a finals chance until the past few games.
The Bulls' City League 5 (Gold) team were eliminated from the finals race after going down 3-2 to Annerley at Sutton Park on Friday night.
However, the club's City League 7 (Silver) side advanced to the preliminary final. The fourth-placed Bulls beat Logan City 1-0 at Mark Mappas Oval on the same night.
