Knights attacking boost in unlucky draw

THE Ipswich Knights walked off their home field without maximum points but with plenty of attacking encouragement at Bundamba tonight.

Although unlucky not to secure a Brisbane Premier League victory over a 10-man Holland Park side, the Knights gained two more important results from the 2-2 draw.

Key players Peter Drager and Brodie Kenyon became increasingly dangerous as the game progressed, after recent injuries.

Both experienced footballers scored. Drager sealed the equaliser in the second half after Kenyon levelled the scores at 1-1 in the first half, from a Drager pass across the goal mouth.

Drager in particular looked to be running himself back into form, literally. He made countless dashes into the penalty box as only Drager can, missing a number of opportunities to bolster his tally.

However, mounting such attack was a positive sign for the Knights in the second half of the season.

Former Golden Boot winner Drager was also on the spot when a Holland Park defender was sent off in the second half for a wayward kick.

Despite a late rally, the Knights were unable to find the winning goal they richly deserved.

Ipswich City consolidated third spot on the Capital League 2 ladder with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Oxley United at Sutton Park on Saturday night.

Dane Grant added a double to his season tally.

Western Spirit also scored a vital win, beating Pine Rivers United 4-2 at Wendy Allison Park.

Regular top grade goalkeeper Chris Morrall played for the Spirit Reserves in their 4-2 win.

But Akram Khan is out for the rest of the season after breaking his ankle in his first game back from an appendix operation.
