Kids in joyride to Hervey Bay

THREE Ipswich teenagers were arrested in Hervey Bay on Saturday after another of Ipswich's pizza delivery drivers was the target of a robbery on Friday night.

It is alleged a group of four teenagers robbed the delivery driver and stole his car, taking it on a joyride to Hervey Bay.

The car was found in the north coast town by police the next day.

A 15-year-old Leichhardt boy, a 16-year-old Eastern Heights boy, a 17-year-old female from Leichhardt and a 12-year-old boy from Drayton, were arrested on Saturday in connection with the robbery.

The 27-year-old Dominos driver was approached by the group of four after arriving at an Aspinall St address to deliver some pizzas at 12.15am.

He was set upon by two of the group, one was allegedly armed with a stick, and demanded the pizza, Ipswich CIB Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Tolsher said.

"Threats were made to his person and demands were made to hand over cash and the pizzas," he said.

Sen-Sgt Tolsher said the reason why the alleged attackers drove to Hervey Bay are still unclear.

All four have been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The 15, 16 and 12-year-old boys were all charged with causing wilful damage.

The 15-year-old boy was also charged with driving a motor vehicle without a licence.

The three males still remained in police custody yesterday morning but the 17-year-old female had been released from custody in Hervey Bay on Sunday morning.

The 17-year-old female will appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on June 28, while the three males are due to appear in Hervey Bay Children's Court on June 4.

Police are continuing their investigations into the incident.
