Jets star running into form at the right time

THE EYE test tells you Michael Purcell is one of the most damaging players in the Intrust Super Cup.

And now the stats have finally caught up with the Ipswich Jets fullback.

Purcell moved into second on the Intrust Super Cup's try-scoring table, following his two-try performance against Northern Pride in Cooktown at the weekend.

The flashy fullback drew level with today's opponent, Dolphins winger Jonus Pearson, on 13 tries for the season.

Impressive as Purcell's tally is, when you consider he missed rounds 8-14 with a broken arm, his penchant for crossing the white line becomes even more obvious.

'Purcy' now averages more than a try per match; he has failed to score in just four of his 12 games this season.

He has eight tries in his past four matches.
