Ipswich team celebrates reward

CONSISTENT racers Darren Kane and Andrew Scheuerle are celebrating a winning double for their Ipswich-based team after impressive efforts last weekend.

Kane won the third Queensland Super Sedan Series round at Rockhampton Speedway.

Scheuerle came out on top again in the fourth Archerfield Speedway 410 Sprintcar Track Championship round.

Kane and the Ian Boettcher Race Parts team made their only visit to Rockhampton Speedway prior to the running of the Australian Super Sedan title there in late March.

The consistent team managed to romp to the feature race victory.

"I enjoyed a strong night and it was great to get some laps at the track before the Australian title later in the season," said the Qld # 36 Ian Boettcher Race Parts backed Dominator driver Kane.

"The locals really support speedway in the Rockhampton area, and it's always a pleasure to go up there and support them."

Earlier in the night, Kane had finished all three of his heat races inside the top three.

That included an opening heat race win.

Kane went into the feature race as the highest point scorer.

As a result of drawing position four for the feature race from the top 8 random draw, he started from the outside of the second row.

In the feature race, he powered to the front in the early laps and stayed there all the way through to the fall of the chequered flag of the 40-lap event.

Scheuerle and Archerfield Speedway wins this season go hand in hand. That success continued last Saturday night when he picked up his fourth win from as many starts there.

After qualifying fifth in time trials and finishing in third and fourth in his heat races, he was second highest point scorer heading into the top six pole shootout.

In the pole shootout, he drew position two, but he went on to record the win.

From pole position in the feature race, he was outpaced in the early stages by Ben Hilder and dropped back to third.

However, Scheuerle was able to fight back and by the sixth lap moved into the lead.

Once out in front, he powered away from his rivals and recorded a dominant win.

"It was a tough night for a lot of competitors, so to be able to come through all of that and pick up the win was very satisfying for the team and I," the Qld # 25 Ian Boettcher Race Parts supported Cool driver said.

"There was a bit of rain leading up the meeting and even some during it (the meeting) and as a result the track was difficult. But my team worked hard to give me a great car and it rewarded us with another feature-race win."

In other Ian Boettcher Race Parts news, it was another 1-2 finish for the Dominator Race Cars brand in the latest round of the JD Couriers Super Series for Super Sedans.

On Saturday night at Adelaide's Speedway City, Dave Gartner drove to the feature-race victory ahead of youngster Ryan Alexander.

On Saturday night, Kane will be running the $3000 to Win Roof-Off Rumble Late Model event at Toowoomba's speedway.

Scheuerle is going to contest the latest Archerfield Speedway 410 Sprintcar Track Championship round.
