Ipswich indoor cricketers take centre stage

THE Ipswich Indoor Sports Centre ventured to Toombul in Round 3 of the NICL and by night's end had racked up five wins from the eight games contested.

The Men's A team were always going to face a tough Toombul side.

Some valiant efforts from Craig Cumming with the bat and Will Conway with the ball unfortunately couldn't get the job done for Ipswich. They lost 85-82.

The top of the table Men's B side continued on their winning ways scoring a 106-96 victory with Taylor Peach the star.

In the other two men's grades, the Ipswich C side lost 105-70 and the Men's D combination scored a great 125-63 win with Tyson Breed on debut taking man-of-the-match honours.

The Masters grades were also hard fought with Ipswich winning the Masters A 99-86, losing the Masters B 142-117 and winning the Over 45's comfortably 102-47.

Lee Morphew played a starring role.

The Ipswich Ladies defeated their opposition 103-71 to register their first win of the year.

EPL records

THE 38 game EPL season was completed last weekend with Manchester City slaying all comers to win by a phenomenal 19 points.

Manchester United came in second after a consistent season.

Tottenham sewed up third spot with a great finish to the season.

Liverpool rounded out the top four, losing only five games but drawing 12.

At the other end of the table we say goodbye to Swansea, Stoke and West Bromwich Albion who all have been relegated.

On the goal-scoring front, two super marksmen for the season in Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah stood out.

Kane scored 30 goals but he couldn't match Liverpool striker Salah, who put 32 into the net. That broke the record for a 38 game Premier League season.

Quick thoughts

HERO of the week: I couldn't go past Cameron Smith. What this man has done in rugby league has been phenomenal.

Smith is an immortal in waiting.

Villain of the week: Ex horse trainer Robert Smerdon, who was banned for life from racing for his huge part in the Aquanita doping scandal.

Bomber's best: I tipped the Waratahs with the start. They nearly won the game outright.

This week I have found a horse about to win. Check out Sizzling Belle, number one in Doomben Race 4.
