Immaculately restored F-111s on show at Amberley

VISITORS to the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre's first public open day this Sunday will notice some big changes.

Staff and volunteers have been working hard over the past few months to reconfigure displays to reflect various eras in military aviation including pre-1946, The Fast Jet Age, and Aviation in Conflict and Peace post 1945.

Exhibits representing the fast jets include two immaculately restored swing-wing F-111s, which were capable of flying at over twice the speed of sound.

The Aviation Heritage Centre will be open from 9am-3pm, with music from the RAAF Amberley Heritage Brass Band, and light refreshments and brewed coffee available for purchase.

Admission is free and photography is welcomed.
