Hockeyroos into the gold medal match
A ferocious swing of Grace Stewart's hockey stick launched the ball past Indian goalkeeper Savita and sent the Hockeyroos into the Commonwealth Games gold medal match.
Stewart's third period effort proved the difference, the Nowra-born star's strike the sole regulation time goal in two women's hockey semi finals.
Try as they might, India just couldn't find a way past Rachael Lynch and the Hockeyroos defence, who kept their perfect defensive record intact.
The gold medal match will be a familiar place for Lynch. She kept for the Hockeyroos' in their Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning efforts at Delhi in 2010 and Glasgow in 2014.
That experience, paired with the likes of veterans Edwina Bone and Jodie Kenny in a side oozing with talent, will come to the fore when Australia faces New Zealand in Saturday's final.
Australia has won four of five hockey gold medals since its introduction at Kuala Lumpar in 1998. New Zealand's best result was silver in 2010.
