Greyhound trainer allegedly abused girl in dog kennel

A GREYHOUND trainer who allegedly used his dogs to gain the trust of a young girl has denied abusing and raping her.

Churchable trainer Richard William Fall, 45, pleaded not guilty on Monday in Ipswich District Court to five child sex offences, including rape.

The offences against the girl 10, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, allegedly took place between February and May, 2014.

Several of the offences took place in dog kennels.

Crown prosecutor Elizabeth Kelso told the court the girl first met Mr Fall after she moved into a house nearby.

She said the girl started helping Mr Fall's with his greyhounds and in turn he paid her about $5 pocket money.

"The girl went to Mr Fall's house one night because one of his greyhounds was about to give birth," she said. "The girl fell asleep only to wake up to find the greyhound had already given birth.

"Mr Fall took her to the kennel to show her the puppies where he grabbed her and told the girl he loved her and tried to kiss her."

Ms Kelso said Mr Fall put his hands up the girl's top and down her pants and fondled her on another occasion when the two were alone in the kennel.

She said Mr Fall also allegedly abused the girl in his car when she went with him to take a sick greyhound to a Brisbane vet.

"The girl will tell you the car broke down and while they were waiting for road side assistance, he pushed her into the back seat, removed her pants and started performing oral sex on her.

"She told him to stop and he said no."

Ms Kelso said Mr Dell continued to abuse the girl over the coming weeks, including digitally raping her while horse riding - he also showed the girl three explicit pornographic videos on his phone.

She said the offending came to light in May last year during a conversation with the girl and her mother.

"The girl never told anyone about what happened," she said. "The girl's mother asked her what Mr Fall was like and she said he touched her and did things to her private parts.

"Unsurprisingly, the girl's mother immediately called the police, the girl was interviewed the next day and Mr Fall was subsequently arrested and charged."

The trial before Judge Sarah Bradley will hear from up to nine witnesses and is expected to last three days.
