Goodna miss out on final berth

GOODNA have fallen in their fight to book a spot in the second week of the Barber Cup finals.

The Gladiators went down 46-17 to the in-form Redlands after having finished the regular season in sixth spot.

Given the first week of finals off for securing second place, Springfield will be out to defend their Barber Cup premiership when they play Pine Rivers in the first preliminary final on Saturday.

With only four teams remaining in each grade, Springfield have been joined by Redlands and Pine Rivers in having a team in both finals.

Crowned minor premiers, Caboolture will take on Redlands in the second final of the Barber Cup, with the winner of each final to meet the following Saturday in the grand final, back at Ballymore Stadium.

In the Reserve grade Pegg Cup, Springfield return from the week off to face Pine Rivers while Redlands meet Wynnum.

After posting a 49-17 win over Caboolture, Pine Rivers will be full of confidence and eager to upset Springfield.
