Geham State School gears up for 150 year celebrations
The 150th anniversary of Geham State School is fast approaching and event preparations are under way.
School principal Shelley Tompson said the celebrations would be held on March 27, and include an official ceremony and a bush dance
“We’re very excited about inviting everyone back for the day,” Ms Tompson said.
“Registrations will start from 9am, and our Year 6 students will be conducting school and garden tours.
“At 10am we will host an official ceremony, which will include some guest speakers, and we have invited back our oldest known student, who is 96 years old, and she will be cutting the cake with our youngest student.
“We will also be having a roll call and opening the time capsule from 1996, while closing the new one to mark 150 years.”
Ms Tompson said the school would also be launching a new school song to mark the occasion, written with help from local artist Josh Arnold.
“Later that night there will be a bush dance, with a two course meal and entertainment,” she said.
Tickets for the bush dance will be on sale until March 19 and are available here.
