Stolen Holden set on fire in long-abandoned shed
UPDATE 6AM: Police are investigating the suspected arson of a stolen car set alight in an abandoned West Ipswich shed.
Witnesses reported seeing a white Holden ute and a white Holden Commodore entering the abandoned shed on Keogh St at 12.50pm. The ute left the shed a few minutes later, as thick black smoke began billowing from the structure.
Police believe the burnt car was stolen from the Bundamba campus of the Bremer TAFE.
The ute was last seen leaving the shed and heading towards Brisbane St.
Five Queensland Fire and Rescue crews arrived to battle the flames.
It took crews 20 minutes to extinguish the flames.
A witness said the shed had been abandoned for five years and had previously been used by a transport company.
The witness said there were originally fears held that a number of tyres had been set alight.
2PM: QUEENSLAND Fire and Rescue crews have extinguished a large fire in a metal shed on Keogh St at West Ipswich.
Five emergency services crews arrived at the shed at 12.50pm to find a car on fire.
Thick black smoke billowed from shed until the blaze was brought under control at 1.10pm.
Keogh St has been blocked off as emergency services continue to work at the scene.
It is believed the shed contained a large number of tyres.
