Fire-breathing action at Shannon's Nationals
THIS weekend's action at Queensland Raceway focuses on the Shannon's Nationals.
The Shannon's Nationals will have around 130 cars across seven exciting national categories.
Some of the interesting categories include Sports Sedans, where Jack Perkins will take on championship leader Tony Riccadello in his fire-breathing Alfa.
Five-time champion Kerry Bailey returns after a layoff in his stunning Aston Martin.
The GT Trophy will feature a mixture of Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari's and some of the quick Audi R8's.
The GT Trophy will have one of the most expensive line-up of cars all year with millions of dollars worth of mouth-watering machinery on the grid.
Formula Ford will have some of the best young talent showing off their wears.
The Porsche GT3 Challenge will compete for the Jim Richards Trophy.
The Australian Production Car Championship will compete in a spectacular 300km Saturday night race.
Street drag series
At Willowbank on Saturday is Round 6 of the Street Series at the drag strip.
The competition is continuing to heat up.
I'm keeping a close watch on the three leaders, knowing this could change at any time.
Street Sedan has Andrew Stathis in his four by holding the leader after two round wins and a runner-up.
The bikes have Denis Ryan, Phil White and Tammy Goldthorpe sitting one, two, three each with a win during a previous round.
Powderpuff sees Jody Wentworth and Rhonda Larfied sitting in first and second with only five points difference.
With only two more rounds before the finals, I can't wait to see who is going to be sitting in the top eight.
IT will be another big day on Sunday at Willowbank Raceway with Mopar Sunday, celebrating anything and everything Mopar.
That includes drag racing, dyno competitions, lots of Mopars on display, Mopar merchandise and plenty of businesses selling Mopar merchandise and goods.
There is so much to look at, but I am most excited about seeing the 496CI Hemi-powered Nitro Funny Car, Chemical Warfare, who is going to be getting some runs in before heading to the USA to race.
Last weekend's Supercars at Queensland Raceway was a blast.
It was great to see Ipswich show off to the world its great motorsport precinct, especially with Lowndesy winning on Sunday.
The plans that on display for the future of the precinct are magnificent.
If they are realised, it will make the precinct one of the best motorsport complexes in the world.
