Fast hands and back in the saddle

THEY say a good child's pony is worth its weight in gold, but handler Kyle Baboth earned a place in Royal Melbourne Show history with this classic catch in the Shetland turnout classes this year.

Stella Gilmour was polished to perfection when her mount, Chesapeake Park Twilight, had a "mare moment”, unseated her and let the laws of physics take their course.

Like a true professional under pressure, Kyle didn't miss a beat as he caught the flying child and safely deposited her back in the saddle before continuing the workout.

Because no feet touched the ground, Stella avoided elimination, but, with manners and paces one of the key performance criteria in any turnout, was unplaced.

There was possibly a good case for awarding the points to the handler instead.
