As if a quarter of a century of racing wasn’t enough, a Sunny Coast elite BMX racer has taken on a new challenge to open his own bike shop.
Dirk Winter has more than 25 years of BMX racing experience.
From local events to world titles and everything in between, he has made his mark on the BMX community, particularly since he took up coaching 10 years ago.

But his impact isn’t stopping.

Winter and his wife Kaitlyn have opened The Cali Bike Shed at Aura to continue passing their dream onto the next generation of riders.
“Our background stems from our impressive competitive BMX racing history which then flowed into downhill mountain biking,” he said.
“We love all things bikes and getting people onto them, so thought why not partner the two together.”
The Hancock Way, Bells Creek business focuses on customised bike builds, services and repairs.
They also offer FIVE41 coaching held over several local tracks each week for all ages and levels.
