Election results will be good for Ipswich

WITH Division 9 still in doubt and all other "continuing" Ipswich City Councillors re-elected, I wish to offer publicly my congratulations to all those elected last Saturday to serve the people of Ipswich for the next four years.

Ipswich will have three new councillors in Divisions 3, 4 and 5 with the retirement of three incumbents.

All three successful candidates: Kerry Silver (Division 3), Kylie Stoneman (Division 4) and Wayne Wendt (Division 5) are well credentialled and well equipped for the jobs ahead of them.

Kerry brings 13 years of local government experience working for her predecessor.

Her community work with community centres, neighbourhood watches and other groups in her Division 3 was evident with strong electoral support particularly in Riverview.

Kylie brings seven years of Federal Government experience working in the Blair electorate office for me.

Her work with SEQ community groups through the highly successful Blair Disability Links and Blair Seniors Links give her broad contacts in Ipswich and beyond.

Her involvement with school communities and other groups in Division 4 especially in Dinmore and Bundamba saw her poll strongly there.

Wayne brings a track record of being an accountant and successful small business operator.

He has six years of representing large parts of his Division 5 in elected office as their State MP.

His role as the CEO of the Ipswich Jets during the club's most successful era is exemplary.

The electors in these divisions judged wisely on Saturday in putting their faith in these individuals.

Finally my sincere congratulations to Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale on his resounding and deserved victory.

Voters: you got that one correct also.
