Dangerous dogs euthanised after vicious attack
TWO dogs involved in a vicious mauling of another dog yesterday have already been euthanised.
Gatton Veterinary Surgery Practice manager Karen Lyon said the owner of the dogs brought them in voluntarily.
She said he attempted to book the appointment as soon as clinic opened, after his dogs had entered a neighbouring property, where they had attacked a 13-year-old Staffy called Sky.
Ms Lyon said the owner of the animals was emotional at the time.
"He didn't want to stay with them because he was really upset and he wanted to get it done (quickly) so his kids didn't think too much about it,” Ms Lyon said.
"The dogs were humanely put to sleep - the owner wasn't made to do it, this guy has elected to bring them into us himself.”
His decision came after a Regency Downs woman let her pet staffy Sky into her backyard early on Thursday morning and she was attacked by two dogs, which had gotten onto the property.
Sky suffered serious injuries and was euthanised yesterday morning after a vet advised nothing could be done to save her.
Sky's owner Christine Watson said she was sad the offending dogs had died but was relieved they were "off the streets”.
"I am glad they're not going to hurt anyone else,” Ms Watson said.
"But it doesn't help my little girl... I just cant believe my dog is gone, everywhere I look I expect her to be there.”
