RIPLEY FIRE: Centenary Hwy reopens, smoke warnings in place

LATEST 7.30AM: QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services are no longer on scene at the Ripley fire which raged well into the night.

At 11.15am last night crews remained on scene near the Providence Estate, however contained the fire and there was no threat to property.

The Centenary Hwy is now open.


UPDATE 9.30 PM: QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire in South Ripley. 

You need to keep up to date and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes.  

As at 9.20pm Tuesday, 8 October, a bushfire is burning near the Providence Estate, between the Centenary Highway and Bayliss Road, South Ripley.  

The fire is travelling in a northerly direction towards the Ripley Town Centre.  

Multiple crews are working to contain the fire.  

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.  

Properties are not under direct threat at this time.

UPDATE 8.30PM: THE Centenary Hwy is closed at Ripley.

As of 8.30pm, all lanes are blocked and diversions are in place at Yamanto and Springfield.

The fire is in the area of Harmony Cres.

According to Rural Fire Service Queensland, nine units are now on scene with more on the way.

A FIRE is burning near the Centenary Hwy at Ripley.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service were called to the scene off Harmony Cres in south Ripley just before 7pm.

Three crews are already on scene and about six acres of land is impacted.

A QFES spokesperson said more resources were being sent to the blaze to contain the fire.

No emergency alerts have been issued for this fire.
