CQUniversity reveals major expansion plans

CQUNIVERSITY has found another place to call home and this time it's across the country.

Western Australia is the latest state to receive a CQU campus with three regionally-based study centres being established as well as main campus.

This week the university announced it will open a four floor CBD campus in Perth using an existing seven-storey building with refurbishments to begin soon.

This news follows recent announcements about study centres for Broome, Busselton and Karratha and a strengthened partnership with Geraldton Universities Centre, that facilitates the delivery of a range of CQUni programs.

With over 500 distance education students already based in WA the multi-storey campus is set to open in February 2017.

In terms of programs on campus the university will offer hospitality management, business, preparatory programs and postgraduate programs with echocardiography on offer in 2018.

As well as on campus programs there will also be supported distance education programs including nursing, accident forensics, engineering, project management and healthy aging.

CQUni's Interim Vice-Chancellor Professor Hilary Winchester said the university focused on expanding where local communities expressed a desire for additional education opportunities.

"We already have over 500 distance education students in WA and we are looking to enhance our 'supported distance education' for current and prospective students, while offering a number of face-to-face programs on campus in Perth," Professor Winchester said.

"We're known for being engaging and supportive and catering for many students who are the first in their family to enrol in higher education.

"We'll also be targeting the 'earn while you learn' market of people juggling work and study and also hope to attract international students progressing from the VET sector into degree programs."

The announcement of the new CQUniversity Perth campus is the latest development in the University's expansion into the West following the opening of new study centres in Busselton.
