Couple accused of forcing babysitter, 17, into prostitution
A COUPLE forced a teen babysitter into prostitution after locking her in a motel room and making her have paid sex with five men a day, police said.
Christopher White, 19, and his girlfriend, Adria Regn, 28, are accused of beating and drugging the 17-year-old during a 10-day sex slave nightmare, The Sun reports.
She had met the couple at a roadside hotel in New Jersey, US, thinking she was being hired for a childminding job.
But they kidnapped the girl and forced her to take crystal meth while warped men paid to sleep with her, according to prosecutors.
On Monday, a grand jury charged White and Regn with multiple charges including conspiracy, human trafficking, promoting the prostitution of a minor and child pornography.
The human-trafficking charge alone carries a sentence of up to 20 years without parole to life, and a fine of up to $US200,000.
Investigators say the couple advertised the girl as an "escort" on Backpage.com and posted naked photos of her.
She was then driven around several motels in southern New Jersey to meet men.
But the girl, who has not been named because of her age, managed to escape after 10 days when her captors were sleeping, authorities said.
"This is a classic case of human trafficking where these defendants allegedly trapped an underage girl in dehumanising circumstances in which they gave her drugs and forced her to have sex with multiple men per day," Attorney-General Christopher S. Porrino said.
"It's terrible for anyone to be exploited in this manner, but it's especially heartbreaking when the victim is so young and vulnerable".
White and mum-of-two Regn are being held in Burlington County Jail ahead of their trial.
