KILLERS AT LARGE: 50 Qld cold cases with rewards for info

MANY murders are solved, but there are some that remain as cold cases. These are the Queensland cases police need the public's help with. 

Do you have information on any of the following cases? Call:

In all of these cases, rewards are offered. 

A $250,000 reward for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each crime is being offered in many cases, in some, the reward is less or more.

In addition, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.

The allocation of the $250,000 reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of the Police Service.

1. Murder of Brian William Andrews

Brian William Andrews was last seen alive on Tuesday, August 1, 1978 at Brian Andrews Motors, Slacks Creek.

At about 6.30pm he left to show a red Holden Monaro sedan, with a yellow bonnet, registration number ODC 002 to a potential client.

The sedan was found at about 6pm on Wednesday, August 2, 1978, in an isolated area at Marsden about 10 kilometres from the car yard at Slacks Creek.

No trace of Mr Andrews was found in the vehicle or its vicinity at that time.

His remains were found on June 21, 1979 in bushland off Daisy Hill Road, Daisy Hill. 

A bullet hole was found in the right temporal region and a .22 calibre projectile was recovered from the skull.

There was also a horizontal fracture of the skull about 8 centimetres above the left ear.

A wedding ring, wrist watch and part of a neck chain worn were missing from the remains.


2. Murder of Diane Mary Angwin 

At about 12.30am on Tuesday, December 2, 1997, Diane Mary Angwin of 3/51 Leichhardt St, Bowen, was fatally stabbed in the chest by an unknown male assailant.

Ms Angwin was taken to Bowen Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

A Post Mortem revealed that the stab wound had severed the right carotid artery.

The victim also sustained a deep cut to her right palm.

3. Suspected murder of Rachel Joy Antonio (pictured above)

At about 6pm on Saturday, April 25, 1998, Cheryl Antonio drove her 16-year-old daughter, Rachel Joy Antonio to the Summer Garden Cinema at the corner of Beach Avenue and Murroona St, Queens Beach.

As the movie did not commence until 7pm Rachel intended to walk down to the stinger nets at the end of Beach Ave, some 200 metres from the cinema.

This she did and was seen leaving the beach by a number of people at 6.45pm.

She was seen walking on Queens Beach Esplanade shortly after, but has not been seen since.

Rachel is described as 165cm tall, slim athletic build, hazel eyes, fair complexion with sun-bleached brown shoulder length hair.

When last sighted she was wearing a short sleeved, collarless T-shirt with horizontal blue and white stripes, a green skirt above the knee with large brass buttons down the front and black dress sandals.

4. Suspected murder of Gregory John Armstrong (pictured above)

Gregory John Armstrong was last seen in Maryborough May 7, 1997.

He was seen outside the Commonwealth Bank in Maryborough that morning and was later seen by a friend during the afternoon.

He was reported as a missing person to Maryborough Police on May 22, 1997.

Armstrong was a known identity in Maryborough and was often seen in local hotels and cafes.

It is strongly believed that Armstrong was murdered and that his body was disposed of.

It is also believed that Armstrong was known to those persons involved in his disappearance.

Armstrong is described as 183cm tall, brown eyes, light brown hair and has a tattoo of a bird on his right arm.

When last seen he was wearing shorts, a white T-shirt and thongs. 

A trial is set to begin in Bundaberg Supreme Court on April 15, after Tony Boyd Carmichael, 46, was accused of murdering Mr Armstrong.

5. Murder of April and Ian Bailey (pictured above)

At 2.05pm on Friday, May 28, 2004, the Queensland Fire Service was called to a house fire at 20 Warren Crescent, Deception Bay.

On arrival, the house was already well alight. During initial inquiries, it was identified that two residents were in the house at the time of the fire.

The four-year-old child of the female victim was located wandering in the yard.

Forensic and scientific examinations identified two deceased ppeople, April and Ian Bailey, from remains
located in the debris of the house.

Examinations indicate that the persons were dead prior to the time of the fire and that an accelerant was used on and around the bodies of the victims.

6. Murder of Gaye Christine Baker (pictured above)

Gaye Christine Baker was a corporal in the WRAAF Kangaroo Point RAAF Base.

She was seen at her residence, 151 Kerry Road, Archerfield, Brisbane, at about 7.30pm on July 1, 1972.

Baker was to meet a male companion on the morning of July 2, 1972.

This was organised through an escort agency named Abco Agencies of Fortitude Valley.

It is believed Baker was last seen at about 9.30am on July 2, 1972, when parking her yellow Datsun 1200 sedan in Bayview Terrace, Clayfield.

She has not been seen since.

 7. Murder of Chantal Glenda Barnett and Robert John Martinez (pictured above)

During March 2013 police commenced an investigation into the suspicious disappearance of
Chantal Glenda Barnett and Robert John Martinez.

An investigation was commenced by the Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch and the Homicide Investigation Unit and following extensive investigations, police now have a reasonable suspicion that they were murdered on or about March 2, 2013.

8. Murder of Hugo Benscher (pictured above)

At about 8am on Sunday, June 21, 1992, the body of Hugo Benscher, 89 years of age, was located in his dwelling located at 13 Paterson Place, Paradise Point.

The dwelling was a canal front home.

Investigations have identified the time of Mr Benscher's death to be between 8.30pm on Saturday June 20, 1992 and 8am on June 21, 1992.

Entry by the offender/s was gained by an unlocked rear door.

Mr Benscher died as a result of injuries sustained during the incident.

The bedroom area of Mr Benscher's home had been ransacked.

Detectives made an arrest in the case this year, but say they are still calling for information from anyone who may have interacted with Mr Benscher at the Runaway Bay Yacht Club in 1992.

9. Murder of Gennadi Bernovski (pictured above)

On Tuesday, July 25, 2000, the Queensland Police Service initiated an investigation into the Homicide of Gennadi Bernovski.

Investigating Detectives are appealing for public assistance for information.

10. Murder of Shandee Renee Blackburn (pictured above) 

It was around 12.15am on February 9, 2013, when 23-year-old Shandee Renee Blackburn was found collapsed on Boddington St, Mackay. 

She had a number of stab wounds to her upper body and was taken to Mackay Base Hospital but died a short time later. 

Her handbag had also been stolen. 

The bag is described as white, or beige, in colour with small shoulder straps and a small decorative silver skull on the side. 

A $250,000 reward is offered for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the person or people responsible for the woman's murder. 


11. Murder of Dorothea Braun 

The body of Matilde Dorothea Braun was found at about 4.15pm on October 20, 1976, on a bed in her residence situated at 438 St Vincents Road, Banyo.

Braun died as a result of strangulation.

12. Murder of Celena Bridge (pictured above)

On August 10, 1998, Celena Bridge, 28 years, was reported missing to the Missing Persons Bureau, Brisbane by her fiancé Jonathon Webb, a British national holidaying in Australia.

Ms Bridge had arrived in Australia on May 6,1998 and intended to meet Mr Webb on his arrival to continue
their holiday together.

When she failed to meet him, Mr Webb became concerned and reported the matter to police.

The last positive sighting of Ms Bridge was on July 16, 1998 on Booloumba Creek Rd at Conondale.

Her bank account was last accessed in Brisbane on July 13, 1998.

Ms Bridge is described as 165cm tall, of slim build, tanned complexion, with brown hair and green eyes.

13. Murder of Dorothy Mavis Britton (pictured above)

At about 6.30pm on Thursday, March 7, 1996, the body of Dorothy Mavis Britton, 48 years of age, was located in her dwelling at Lot 18 Timberlands Road, Jubilee Pocket, Airlie Beach.

It was established that Mrs Britton died as a result of a single shotgun wound to the head.

The murder weapon, believed to be a single barrel shotgun, has not been located.

The victim was last seen alive at about midday on Wednesday, March 6, 1996.


14. Female known as "Bambi"

At about 8.4 pm on Thursday, December 28, 2000 a 000 call was received at the Police Communications Centre Brisbane from a male person, who informed police that a child had arrived at his residence and complained that she had been assaulted and that her mother had been shot at 1369 New Cleveland Road, Capalaba West, an address known as 'the Shack'.

On arrival police located the body of the female person known as 'Bambi', who had suffered gunshot wounds to her body.

An x-ray revealed that the victim had been shot three times with a .22 calibre weapon.

The victim's daughter had been abducted from the scene and taken to a location in bushland off Collingwood Road, near Haig Road Birkdale where she was assaulted.

The child was able to supply police with a detailed description of her attacker, from which a com-fit image photograph was produced.

To date this offender has not been located.


15. Murder of Richard Campbell

At 10.30am on June 13, 1985 Richard Campbell, aged 85 years, was found deceased in
his home at Pope Street, Tarragindi, with severe head wounds.

He had been struck on the head a number of times with a ball pein hammer which was found lying on the floor beside his body.

His hands and ankles were securely tied and he was also gagged with a necktie and the sleeve of a woollen jumper.

A witness advised that he saw a male person leaving the deceased's residence between 9.15am and 9.45am.

This person was described as; late 20s to early 30s, 175 to 190cm tall, medium to well built, dark brown
shoulder length hair, no beard or moustache but unshaven.

He was last wearing a tan woollen jumper and blue jeans and carrying a red coloured sports type bag with blue or black straps.

He was of scruffy appearance.

16. Murder of Philip James Carlyle

At about 8pm on Sunday, April 13, 1997 the body of Philip James Carlyle was located in the plant room of the business office of Atnet Pty Ltd situated at Suite 4/34 Glenferrie Drive, Robina, Gold Coast.

Carlyle was a 47-year-old married man residing at Tallai who was employed as a marketing manager at this computer/internet business.

A post mortem revealed that the victim had been shot in the head four times with a .32 calibre weapon, earlier on this day.

The ammunition used in this crime was identified as Norma brand .32 ACP 77 grain, manufactured in Sweden, an uncommon brand for Australia.


17. Murder of Kenneth Elwyn Charles

At about 2.30pm on Monday, November 10, 1997 police located the body of Kenneth Elwyn Charles at his residence of 2195 Beaudesert Road, Calamvale.

A post mortem revealed that death was due to a number of blows to the head with a heavy blunt object.

Mr Charles's red Daihatsu Hi-Jet panel van Registration No. 482-EBY appears to have been stolen at the time of his murder.

This vehicle was located in the Landsborough State Forest area, off Old Caboolture Road, on May 27, 1998.


18.  Murder of William Paul and Grayuyda Maria Clarke 

The remains of the two persons believed to be William Paul Clarke and Grayuyda Maria Clarke were found on May 24, 1981 in their burned out residence in Pinnacle Road, Julatten, near Mareeba.

A post mortem examination revealed that both victims had been shot with a shotgun.

19. Murder of Robin Jeanne Hoinvillebartram and Anita Cunningham (pictured above)

On July 4, 1972, Robin Jeanne Hoinville-Bartram left Melbourne in company with Anita Cunningham for a hitch-hiking holiday to visit her mother in Bowen.

On November 15, 1972, Hoinville-Bartram's remains were located in Sensible Creek under a bridge on the Flinders Highway, approximately 80 kilometres west of Charters Towers.

She has been shot twice in the head by a .22 calibre rifle. No trace of Anita Cunningham has been found.

20. Murder of Wendy Margaret Darvill (pictured above)

Some time after 11am on Thursday, August 8, 1996, Wendy Margaret Darvill, 35, went missing from her residence at 60 Tristania Way, Mt Gravatt.

Her vehicle, a silver, Toyota Camry Sedan, Reg No. 020-BXC, was located on Saturday, August 24, 1996 in a
Citybus Park and Ride adjacent to Bus Stop No. 34 in Logan Road, Holland Park.

Investigating police are of the view that she has met with foul play.


21. Murder of Michael Cleaver Davies

At about 11.56am on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 the body of Michael Cleaver Davies, 55 years, was located in his residence at 2/130 The Esplanade, Paradise Point.

Mr Davies died as the result of a single gun shot wound to the back of the head fired at close range.

There were no signs of forced entry and no signs of a struggle.

A neighbour reported hearing a sound similar to a gun shot between 11.10am and 11.27am that morning.


22. Murder of Richard August Dobrowolski

At about 8.15pm on Monday, March 31, 1997, Richard August Dobrowolski, 46 years of age, of 39 Ungerer Street, North Mackay, went to investigate an intruder.

His companion had observed this person earlier in the night hiding behind a large fishing boat stored in the backyard.

As they went behind the boat, the intruder emerged and pursued the pair to the rear stairs of the residence.

As they retreated up the stairs, Dobrowolski received a shotgun wound to the back. He died shortly after.

Investigations have failed to establish any motive for this brutal and senseless act.

 The bodies of the deceased persons were found near a bush track 12 kilometres west of Mount Isa at 6.55pm on October 24, 1978.

A post mortem examination indicated that the death in each instance had resulted from a gunshot wound to the head caused by a projectile fired from a .22 calibre rifle.

A suspect was charged over their deaths but a reward remains for information leading to a conviction.

24. Murder of Lorraine Ruth Wilson and Wendy Joy Evans (pictured above)

Both girls were last seen alive at Camp Hill, Brisbane, on October 6, 1974.

Their skeletal remains were located on the afternoon of June 25, 1976, in a paddock in bush country off Murphy's
Creek Road, an old by-pass to Toowoomba, approximately 96km from Brisbane.

A post-mortem examination disclosed that death in both instances resulted from multiple skull fractures.

On Thursday, August 2,1990, between 5.30pm and 6pm Julie-Ann Gallon, 27 years of age, left her place of employment at the Queensland Museum, intending to drive to her place of residence at Karrabin.

She was last seen at about 6.30pm on this date, standing beside her motor vehicle, a Torana sedan, registered
number ONX-801, outside a church situated at 35 Brisbane Road, Riverview.

Clothing worn by Julie-Ann Gallon and a set of car keys to her Torana sedan, were located on December 15,
1990 in the Brisbane River, under the Kholo Bridge, by youths snorkling in the river.

Gallon to date has not been located.

26. Murder of Robert James Girvan

At about 6.15am on Saturday, July 31, 1993 the body of Robert James Girvan was located on the beach approximately one kilometre north of the Mirage Resort east of Seaworld Drive, Main Beach.

The victim had suffered recent minor bruising and abrasions.

Although some of these injuries were consistent with the abrasive effect of wave action on the sand, some may have been the result of a physical assault just prior to his death.

The cause of death was given as drowning while suffering the toxic effects of the drug ecstasy.

The victim's vehicle, a yellow Holden Gemini sedan, Reg. No. 520-AOF, missing at the time of the location of his body, was found abandoned outside of the Mt Warren Park State School, Beenleigh on Sunday, August 1, 1993.

Mr Girvan was actively involved in the Gold Coast drug scene and was himself an active user of ecstasy and other dangerous drugs.

He also frequented the coast's night club scene.


27. Murder of Alexander Robert Goodhart

At about 8.15am on Wednesday, October 7, 1992 the body of Alexander Robert Goodhart was located beside a creek on the property of John Edward Hine in Splityard Creek Road, Fernvale.

A post mortem examination revealed that the victim had died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

He was last seen alive at the Aspley Hypermarket about 11.35am on October 6, 1992.

His vehicle, a white Holden Commodore Sedan, Reg No. 810-AQR, was observed to be still in the carpark at about 8.35pm that evening.

It is unknown how the victim travelled from the Hypermarket to Fernvale.

28. Murder of Catherine Pamela Graham (pictured above)

On July 30, 1975, Catherine Pamela Graham was reported as a missing person.

Her body was found at Oak Valley, 18 kilometres from Townsville along the Flinders Highway on August 1, 1975.

She had been repeatedly bashed about the head with a heavy stone.

Before her death, 18-year-old Catherine moved to Townsville and was working selling educational books door to door.

On the evening of July 29, 1975, the night that police believe was the night of her murder, Catherine had been seen canvassing houses in the Hermit Park area.

Catherine was due to be picked up by friends at 11pm once she had finished for the night, however she never made it to the pick-up point.

29. Suspected murder of Robert Deric Grayson and Derek Wade Van Derpoel (pictured above)

On August 8, 1994, Robert Deric Grayson, 26 years, was reported missing to Gladstone Police.

On September 2, 1994, his companion Derek Wade Van Derpoel, 23 years, was reported missing to Calliope Police.

At the time of their disappearance the pair were involved, with another person, in share-cropping in the Kroombit Ranges.

They were last seen alive in May 1993 in Gladstone.

It is strongly suspected that the pair have met with foul play.

Russell Williams, 51, from Rosedale, north of Bundaberg, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in relation to the disappearance in 2018.

A reward remains available for information leading to a conviction.

30. Murder of Tina Louise Greer (pictured above) 

Tina Louise Greer, date of birth January 26, 1979, was last seen departing Tamborine on January 18, 2012 to travel to an address in Clumber.

Detective Inspector David Briese said police were appealing for a man who called Brisbane homicide detectives in 2014 to re-establish contact as his information could be vital.

Her daughter Lili Greer fronted the media in January this year, appealing for help in solving the case.

31. Suspected murder of Sabrina Ann Glassop (pictured above)

On 29 May 1999, Sabrina Ann Glassop, 46 years, was reported missing to
Kenilworth police by her estranged husband Eric Glassop.

Mr Glassop had last seen his wife at about 8.30pm the previous evening when they dined together at her residence in Booloumba Creek Road, Kenilworth.

Her parents, John and Joan Worsley reported hearing her vehicle, a red 1997 Suzuki Alto registration number 274DXA, leave the residence at about 6am on May 29, 1999 and drive towards Kenilworth.

The vehicle was later located in the Little Yabba Creek carpark.

A search of the area where her vehicle was located failed to find any trace of the victim or of her poodle dog.


32. Murder of Doris Beatrice Harbottle

At about 9am on Thursday, November 13, 1986, Doris Harbottle's body was found in room 21 of the Royal George Hotel, Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, by the cleaner of that establishment.

She was lying face down on the bed with her hands tied behind her back with red ribbon.

She had slight bruising about the face and the cause of death was ascertained to be strangulation.

33. Suspected murder of Lee Martin James Harper (pictued above)

On Tuesday, February 20, 1990, Lee Martin James Harper went to work at Sunmap as usual and left work early to consult a doctor.

At 3.30pm on that date, Harper attended the Civic Fair Centre, Mount Gravatt where the last confirmed sighting of him was at the chemist where he had his prescription filled after consulting the doctor.

It is apparent that Harper went home to 35 Togar Street, Mount Gravatt, as his keys, motorcycle, wallet and the
medication were located at this address.

Harper to date has not been located and the circumstances of his disappearance lead to suspicion of foul play.

34. murder of Elizabeth Rebekka Henry (pictured above)

At about 5am on Thursday, February 12, 1998, the naked body of Elizabeth Rebekka Henry, 30 years, was located by a jogger in a cleared gravel reserve on Bygotts Road, Samford.

The victim was lying face down.

She had suffered several blows to the head with an unknown instrument.

A distinctive pattern of bruising was located on the back of the victim.

An attempt had also been made to incinerate her body.

The victim was last seen alive at the intersection of Terrace and Brunswick Streets, Fortitude Valley at approximately 11.45pm on February 11, 1998.

35. Murder of Dawn Elaine Hillier (pictured above)

At about 10.15pm on August 16, 1977, the body of the deceased was found lying on a double bed in the flat where she was living.

A post mortem examination indicated that death resulted from a stab wound to her throat and other stab wounds to her body.

The woman had been sexually assaulted.

Dawn's killer used a craving knife to mutilate her body after stabbing her in the throat.

"Please help me find the person who took Dawn's life," Dawn's father once wrote in a letter that he sent to a media outlet.

"My life is worth nothing without her. I have always been scared of the police, however they are the most helpful, human and kind people I have ever met. So please, I beg of you if you phone up, please give your name.

"Please help Dawn. Please look for men in the Kedron, Pine Rivers area with scratches to their face, hands and arms. I beg of you please, find Dawn's murderer."

36. Murder of Howard Hobson (pictured above)

At 1.30am on Tuesday, January 20, 2004, Howard Hobson was located unconscious and bleeding on a footpath in Wharf Street, Cairns.

Mr Hobson was suffering from a severe wound to the head and died later that morning in the Cairns Base Hospital.

Investigations have revealed that Mr Hobson was the victim of a callous and brutal assault; however, the investigation is now frustrated.

37. Murder of Bryan Hodgkinson (pictured above)

At 12.30am on September 10, 1987, Bryan Hodgkinson was last seen alive at a taxi rank in Bundaberg.

At 7.50am that day his taxi was found abandoned in Beatrice Street, Bundaberg.

At 8am that day his body was located off Goodwood Road, 30 kilometres east of Bundaberg.

38. Murder of Gabriel Ingrid Jahnke (pictured above) and Michelle Ann Riley

The body of Gabriel Ingrid Jahnke was found at the bottom of a steep embankment at the side of the Pacific Highway, Ormeau, about at approximately 8am on October 13, 1973.

The body of Michelle Ann Riley was found about 12 metres from the roadway on the Mount Tamborine Highway 6km south of Logan Village at about 6pm on October 23, 1973.

The cause of death in each instance was a fractured skull.

Gabriel Michelle were last seen alive when they got out from a Black and White taxi near Petrie Bight, Brisbane, at about 10am on Saturday, October 6, 1973.

39. Murder of Marko Jekic (pictured above)

On April 1, 1989, Marko Jekic departed Cairns, Queensland, in his Toyota Landcruiser four-wheel drive in possession of $125,000 in cash.

He was last spoken to at approximately 6pm on this same date.

Evidence at hand suggests Marko JEKIC was then murdered by persons/s unknown shortly thereafter.

Investigating police have initiated an investigation centre at the Tully Police Station to investigate the suspected murder of Marko Jekic.

Anthony John Jones of Perth, Western Australia, had been travelling in Queensland since September, 1982.

He hitch-hiked from place to place, meeting his brother from time to time at prearranged points.

After visiting Brisbane, Mackay and Airlie Beach, Anthony John Jones left Townsville on October 28,1982, to travel to Cairns, having arranged to meet his brother at Mount Isa about a week later.

He was known to have been in Townsville again on November 3, 1982 when he telephoned his home in Perth and indicated his intention of travelling to Mount Isa.

He has not been seen or heard from since that time, and it is suspected that he has been murdered.

The body of the deceased was found by a room service attendant in a room at a Brisbane hotel at 9am on August 14, 1976.

A post-mortem examination indicated that death resulted from a fractured skull and head injuries.

Last year, Bundaberg man Benjamin Jansen was accused of his murder. 

The matter is before the courts.

At 9.05pm on Friday, June 24, 1983, Bradley Richard Kerrisk disappeared after last being seen when he entered his motor vehicle, a Ford Telstar sedan, registered number 991-OQC at the Callaghan Park Racecourse, Rockhampton.

Kerrisk's vehicle was later located parked outside the Balmoral Hotel now known as the Archer Hotel which is on the southern outskirts of Rockhampton and in 1983 was adjacent to the Bruce Highway.

Kerrisk to date has not been located and investigating police believe that Kerrisk may have been murdered.


Andy Komarnicki was the owner of a kangaroo processing plant in the small Queensland town, where dead roos became pet food for hungry dogs all along the eastern seaboard. One night in January 1980, he made a routine trip to check on chiller rooms on the town's outskirts. His family haven't seen him since.

43. Suspected murder of Andrzej Komarniczki

At about 7.30pm on Saturday, January 12, 1980, Andrzej Komarniczki, aka, Andy, left his residence at St George to travel to his business premises for the purposes of checking refrigeration equipment and he has not been seen since.

His motor vehicle was found abandoned at a weir near the banks of the Balonne River some 300 metres from his kangaroo business.

The vehicle was unlocked and the keys were in the ignition switch.

Despite a massive police and civilian search in the St George District no trace of Andy or his remains have been found.

44. Murder of Ann Maree Kropp and Christopher Nancarrow (pictured above)

On Monday, February 1, 1999, the bodies of Ann Maree Kropp, 24, and Christopher Leigh Nancarrow, 27, were located at their residence at 2293 Springbrook Road, Springbrook on the Gold Coast.

Both deceased had suffered knife wounds and were believed to have been murdered sometime between the evening of Saturday, January 30, 1999 and Sunday, January 31, 1999.

Miss Kropp's naked body was found lying in the hallway of the timber cottage and the body of Nancarrow, also naked, was in a secluded garden, hidden by a hedge.

Police said they had fought hard for their lives.

The couple were last seen alive when they left a friend's residence at Oxenford at about 7pm on Saturday, January 30, 1999.

The couple had moved to the Gold Coast area from Maitland, New South Wales about 12 months before their deaths.


45. Murder of Jaano Kruuser 

At 7.25am on Wednesday, August 16, 1995, the body of Jaano Kruuser was located in a residence at 8 Abingdon Street, Woolloongabba.

The interior of the residence had been ransacked after entry was gained through an open kitchen window and there were signs of a violent struggle.

The victim had received knife wounds to the chest and neck and massive head injuries.

A number of items had been taken including a gold "Loyal" gents watch inscribed "J Kruuser 2.1.93 20 years of service Kennedy Taylor (Qld) Pty Ltd" on the back.

He was last seen alive at about 4pm on Saturday, August 12, 1995 leaving the Clarence Corner Hotel in Stanley Street, Woolloongabba.

At approximately 4.20pm on January 29, 1978, her father found her body in the boot of her Datsun Sedan which was parked outside 7 Limerick Street, Acacia Ridge.

A post mortem examination indicated that death resulted from vagal Inhibition and injury to the larynx.

47. Murder of Lesley Patricia Larkin (pictured above)

At about 12.30am on November 9, 1984, Lesley Patricia Larkin, 31, was found lying naked across a mattress in the bedroom of Unit 4, Kareela Court, Kareela Avenue, Noosa Heads.

She was suffering from severe head injuries and was unconscious.

The yoga instructor was found by her neighbour, who discovered her unit door open when he went to return her dog, Riff-Raff.

To this day, her family struggles with the knowledge of her brutal killing. 

She was taken to the Nambour Hospital and subsequently to the Royal Brisbane Hospital, where she remained unconscious and subsequently died as a result of those injuries on November 10, 1984.

Lesley Larkin was last seen alive at about 10pm on November 8, 1984, when she was spoken to at her unit by
a friend.

On 11 April 2012, John Anthony Lazzaro was at his home address in Rochedale South, with his youngest daughter.

About 10.55pm two people entered Lazzaro's dwelling and shot him a number of times. 

The Lazzaro family dog, Kilo, was also shot once during the incident but survived after undergoing emergency surgery.

Police announced an increase on a reward for information at the end of last year, upping it to half a million dollars. 


49. Murder of Son Truong Luu 

At about 9pm on Sunday, May 9, 1999, the body of Son Truong Luu was located at Marty's on Vulture, Vulture Street, West End.

A Post Mortem examination revealed that the victim had suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigations have disclosed that he was one of a number of persons involved in an altercation in the toilet block of the premises a short time earlier.

A reward of $50,000 is offered for information leading to a conviction.

On the February 8, 2018, Constance May Watcho, date of birth April 24, 1981, was reported missing.

On September 10, 2018, human remains were located in grassland along Lower River Terrace, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, Queensland.

These remains were identified as Constance May Watcho.

Constance Watcho was last seen at the Suncorp Bank, Stones Corner branch on the morning of November 27, 2017.

Evidence available supports Constance Watcho was murdered by persons/s unknown shortly thereafter.
