Classic aircraft on display this weekend
THE RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre will be open for the monthly public open day this Sunday, giving visitors a chance to see the extensive collection of restored military aircraft and learn their story.
A team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to guide visitors through the three dedicated hangars, providing fascinating aviation information about the displayed aircraft and memorabilia.
The display includes the Canberra bomber, an Iroquois "Huey" helicopter, a Bell Sioux helicopter synonymous with the MASH television series, and the new Army Pilatus Porter.
Immediately outside this hangar is an old workhorse of the RAAF, the Caribou Battlefield airlifter, which will be open for inspection.
There are also F-111s and a Korean War vintage Sabre fighter.
All visitors over the age of 16 must provide photographic identification, and have their identification details recorded as a condition of entry.
Admission is free.
