Caslick: 'Most fun I've had since I was a kid'
SAM Caslick was no stranger to rugby league when he joined the Ipswich Jets in the off-season.
He was however a stranger to Queensland Cup level, and the Jets' unique style of play.
But the former Australian Rugby Sevens star was quickly made to feel at home at North Ipswich Reserve, and one player in particular made certain of that.
"Probably Wes (Conlon),” Caslick said. "From day-dot pretty much.
"I'd played rugby league before, but not at that level and obviously Jets footy is completely new.
"Wes really took it upon himself to make sure I was comfortable with how we played.
"He pulled me aside after training and explained why we did some things.”
The all-inclusive culture at the Jets has left Caslick with no regrets about hanging up his Australian jersey.
"I've said to my parents and close mates, this is the most fun I've had playing footy since I was a kid,” he said.
"I've been loving it. I know I made the right decision to play at Ipswich.
"Every decision I've made surrounding footy has always been the right one. I'm just glad I'm at such a good club.
"Now I want to make finals this year and see how we go.”
