Captain's hat-trick gives Bulls early Easter cheer
FOOTBALL: The unbeaten Ipswich City Bulls women can enjoy a well-deserved Easter break after another comfortable victory.
A hat-trick by captain Shani Wilton laid the foundation for City's 6-0 win over Park Ridge in front of a good crowd at Sutton Park on Sunday night.
After building a 2-0 halftime lead, the Bulls continued their encouraging form in the Football Brisbane Women's Premier League.
The Bulls shut out the visitors and could have scored more only for some terrific saves by the Park Ridge goalkeeper.
"They are going really well. They stuck to their guns last night,'' coach Ian Carson said of his team's latest effort.
"It's very pleasing.
"It's nice to go into the break undefeated and sitting second on the table.''
The Bulls' top team win came after a big day of football for Ipswich girls and women's teams at Brassall.
Ipswich City's Reserve Grade women drew 1-1 with Park Ridge.
The senior side's dominant performance follows a 2-2 draw with competition heavyweights Annerley and a season-opening 9-1 success over Holland Park.
Ipswich City's next game is against Virginia United at Bishop Park on April 7.
Without any early injury issues, Carson planned to give the players a week off before refocusing on their post-Easter games.
