Bulls women add belief to on-field skills

FOOTBALL: With plenty of skill and experience in his side, new Bulls coach Ian Carson knows he has a women's team rich in promise.

However, preparing for their first game of the 2018 Premier League competition, he's working hard on instilling another valuable quality.

"We just have to make sure that they are mentally right for it,'' Carson said.

"Physically and skills wise, they are very good. We've got some really good players.

"They have just got pace and skill all over the park. It's the belief. They have got to have the belief and that's where they are struggling a little bit.''

However, as a coach with an exceptional record in building team confidence, Carson is already working on that.

"I think they are going to surprise a lot of teams,'' he said.

After a pre-season disrupted by weather issues, Carson said his players were "ready to go'' on Sunday.

He's named Sharni Wilton as captain, leading a side including other accomplished former Knights Premier League players including Lailey Hunt and Belinda Scott.

The Bulls goalkeeper is Amber Lombard.

"They are a great bunch of girls,'' Carson said.
