IT WAS supposed to be bubbles, bubbles, bubbles at Springfield Lakes this weekend, but the much anticipated Bubbles on the Lake event has now been cancelled.
In a statement posted to the My Springfield Lakes Facebook page, event organisers announced the event had been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, but hoped to reschedule the event for later this year.
Originally scheduled to take place last month in conjunction with the launch of Springfield's newest park, the Terry and Frances Slaughter Park, the event was postponed due to heavy rain in the lead up to Cyclone Debbie.
The free event was to be curated by QPAC's Out of the Box Festival and would feature bubbles in all their glory, with over a thousand inflatable bubbles to be placed on the lake and around the park.
Despite the cancellation of the event, the park is now open and kids can still try out the new nautical inspired playground which features a large ship with climbing crows nest and look out deck, jungle swing rope, a toddler swing, walking tight-rope and slide.
