UPDATE 4.30PM: While the scene of a three-car crash just before 3pm on the Bruce Hwy northbound has started to clear a second crash just a few kilometres south has added to the traffic chaos for commuters.

Three cars collided just north of the Buchanan Rd overpass at Morayfield just before 3pm, causing havoc for northbound commuters headed to the Sunshine Coast.

No injuries were recorded as a result of that crash, which brought traffic to a standstill.

About 45 minutes later a car and motorbike collided on the Bruce Hwy, near Uhlmann Rd, just a few kilometres south of the Buchanan Rd smash.

No injuries have been reported from the second crash, but a police spokesman said traffic was starting to bank up on nearby arterial roads, as motorists look to avoid the Bruce Hwy congestion.

UPDATE 3.30PM: Two lanes of the Bruce Hwy are open at present, but traffic is moving slowly, after a multi vehicle nose-to-tail crash on the Bruce Hwy this afternoon.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes at Morayfield, just north of the Buchanan Rd overpass.

Traffic had been brought to a standstill initially, but is now moving slowly past the scene. Emergency services and tow truck operators are on scene.

A police spokesman said a car had jacknifed in the fast lane, about 200m north of the overpass.

It was unclear whether two or three cars were involved and there were no reported injuries as yet, but Queensland Ambulance Officers are on scene.

BREAKING: Emergency services are headed to the scene of a Bruce Highway crash which has brought Coast-bound traffic to a standstill.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is advising northbound traffic headed to the Sunshine Coast to expect delays, after a crash at Morayfield just north of the Buchanan Rd overpass.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said their early reports were that northbound traffic had been brought to a stop as a result of the crash, but emergency services were still on their way to the scene.

Motorists have taken to social media to warn others, advising traffic had already banked up significantly as a result of a two-car crash.

Anyone travelling in the area should do so with caution.
